Libertarians and abortion

Howard Dean doesn't know what he's talking about:

First of all, lesson number one, for Rand Paul, who is, by the way, not a libertarian. If you believe you ought to be able to tell women what to do with their reproductive rights you are not a libertarian.

I'm not sure yet if Paul is really a libertarian. He is libertarianish, and would pull the Republican Party in that direction, which is not a bad thing. But whether he's pro-life or pro-choice has nothing to do with it. I haven't seen any polls showing how many libertarians are which, but it is quite possible to be either, and there is quite the healthy debate about abortion among libertarians. They believe in the supremacy of the idividual and his right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Some would extend those rights to unborn babies, some think fetuses aren't the same as the rest of us -- they have the same range of opinions as the general population. Here's a nearly hour-long video on that debate if anybody cares to check it out.
