Snobs

Want to snark on someone? Let's do a smackdown of all the snobs. Some website operator with too much time on his hands looked at 101 places in Indiana with population of 5,000 or more and came up with a "scientifically prove and absolutely irrefutable" list of the  Top 10 Snobbiest Places in Indiana. And the winner is:

Zionsville

Well, well, well Zionsville, we meet again. This time however, I’m not here to let you gloat about how awesome you are. No this time, I’m here to take you down a peg.

I mean honestly, Zion, you named yourself after one of the holiest places on earth. Conceited much?

But I guess that’s what happens when you have the highest home prices, second highest median income, and third most people with college degrees in all of Indiana. And then to top it off, there are the second most galleries per capita in the Hoosier State.

So maybe, just maybe, we should consider changing the name of the city to Snobbyville.

A "snob" is defined in the post as "someone who walks around thinking he's better than everybody else." And somewhere in there, it says the survey is "all in good fun," which I think is another way of saying, "This is really stupid."

The criteria used? Median home price, median household income, percent of population with a college degree, private schools per capita, theaters per capita and art galleries per capita, in each case the higer the number the better the score. In other words, if you go to college, work hard to become successful enough to have a nice home and enjoy a theater or art gallery excursion occasionally, you just might be a snob.

Or maybe we should say, "They have the things I wish I had, so they must be snobs." And maybe, just maybe, the actually are better than the rest of us.

Fort Wayne, fwiw, tied with Nappanee in 40th place. Guess I'm entitled to feel humble. Makes me so proud!
