Lots of goals early

It's 2-1 Komets after the first period.

First, Matthew Pistilli scored off a 3-on-1.

Then Shawn Szydslowski scored a power-play goal.

Before Indy's Chris DeSousa got loose in front.

Komets have brought in a goalie

Kevin Murdock who played one game last year for 12 minutes with the Komets. He's been playing with Fayetteville of the SPHL where he is 14-8-5 with a 2.54 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. He won last night in Peoria. He played 12 minutes and stopped four shots last year in a home game against Gwinnett in a 2-1 win.

High school hockey

City Tournament semifinals are Saturday at 5:30 p.m. with Carroll vs. FW Bruins and 7:30 p.m. with Leo vs. Homestead. The championship game is 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Indiana State High School Hockey Invitational Tournament will be held March 6-8  (preliminary round) with the state finals on Saturday, March 14.

Second one of the year at Applebees, North Clinton, Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Have dinner at Applebees with the Komes serving as your waiters. Tips benefit Applebee's Vera Bradley Foundation fundraising efforts.

This week, the roller skating community has suffered a tragic loss of young speed skater and former roller derby athlete, Taylor Elzey.
