I suppose this approach is worth the effort:
Health researchers investigating ways to tackle America's childhood obesity epidemic have a possible solution: heavier toys.
A study of the effects of giving children weighted blocks to play with found they burned more calories and had higher heart and breathing rates than when playing with lighter blocks.
Now all we have to do is get them front in front of the TV and the computer and off the cell phones and Nintendos and . . .
Oh, and don't forget:
Others warned that children could hurt themselves by trying to lift too much too soon, or injure playmates by throwing heavy toys.
I can already see the lawsuits, the rising insurance rates, the playground edicts, the government studies . . .
