Just what the hell are "Midwestern values"? The story mentions that he "likes to keep life as simple as possible, focused on family, friends and baskketball, much the way it was growing up" and says he's humble and boring and genuine, blah, blah, blah. I've been around the Midwest awhile, and I tell you, those aren't universal characteristics of the people here. And how can you say a region so big has its own set of values? There's a world of difference between Chicago, Ill., and Wabash, Ind.
Maybe they mean "small town values."
