Calling himself a "mujahedeen," or Muslim holy warrior, Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychologist accused of a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead at Ft. Hood in Texas, made a brief opening statement at the start of his dramatic court martial, in which the accused gunman is expected to question victims of the attack.
Hasan, who was left paralyzed after police, responding to the deadliest shooting on a US military installation ever, shot him in the back, is representing himself. "The evidence will clearly show that I am the shooter," he said.
At least the Obama administration seems to have stopped calling this a case of "workplace violence." But 'terrorist" doesn't seem quite right, either. This, from a Todd Kincannon Tweet, seems about right: He's a war criminal.
