How often does anybody really need something delivered this quickly?
Jeffrey P. Bezos has never been known for thinking small. And in an interview aired Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes," he outlined his latest plan for revolutionizing the retail industry: using drones to deliver packages in as little as 30 minutes. Declaring himself an "optimist," the Amazon.com founder and chief executive predicted the technology could be brought to market in as little as five years.
Remember the shots behind the opening credits of "The Jetsons" that showed a sky just filled with little flying machines? We all thought they were personel vehicles, right? Turns out they may be drones. Man, the sky is going to get crwoded with those things. With all the ones used for spying and police surveillance added to the ones used for package delivery, there isn't going to be much room up there for birds.
