Go be generous, but not with my money

People Francis has coined my favorite new oxymoron:

On Friday, Francis called for the United Nations to promote a "worldwide ethical mobilization" of solidarity with the poor in a new spirit of generosity.

He said a more equal form of economic progress can be had through "the legitimate redistribution of economic benefits by the state, as well as indispensable cooperation between the private sector and civil society."

Sorry, sir, but the only "legitimate" redistribution of wealth is when I voluntarily decide to give you something or someone voluntarily decides to give me something. The minute the state gets involved, there is coercion and the legitimacy is destroyed. Yes, I understand that his background in Latin America gives him a different slant on capitalism, but my tolerance evaporates when anybody calls on the United Nations to do anything. To think that collection of Third World tinpots and asshats capable of a worldwide "ethical mobilization" is just insane.
