Hot stuff

We're all doomed, doomed, I tell you!

Don't want to see your neighbors die in a heat wave?

Then you should care about climate change.

It's too late, baby, now

If you want to be an effective global warming climate change alarmist, you have to walk a fine line. You have to predict dire, truly scary cataclysms that are just around the corner, which can only be averted by massive, drastic action right now. You can't undersell the danger, because then people won't put up with all the government control you're proposing.

Liberating the earth

The peope is from Latin America, birthplace of Marxist liberation theology, and at times he's sounded like he's trying to sneak up on that theology. Now, he seems to be jumping in with both feet:

It's baaaack!

For those who think the Religious Freedom Restoration Act is just an excuse to discriminate against gays:

Is posting a Bible verse on a desktop computer in a military workplace an act protected under the Constitution as a free expression of religion?

Or is such an open display of religiosity an affront to "good order and discipline"?

Word power

Interesting words I encountered while wandering through the blogosphere.

From an article about some sneering left-wing writers at PEN, which, among other thngs, gives out a yearly award for journalistic courage, boycotting the awards ceremony for the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists killed last year for daring to satirize militant Islam, because, you know, they were using the right to free expression, for (gasp!) hate speech:

Water, water

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I noticed on Sunday that The Journal Gazette editorial page has jumped on the "poor Californians being whupped by climate change" bandwagon:

It’s tougher to pretend there’s no danger from climate change if you live in California, which is struggling under a historic drought.
