Just two weeks ago, Senator McCain said he'd rather do nothing than something about the housing crisis... Today, it looks like he's proposing a warmed-over, half-hearted version of the very plan he criticized...
This is one of those turnabouts that drives McCain's fellow Repbulicans crazy -- there is no need for three Democrats in the race. McCain was right when he said it is "not government's duty to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers." Now, he wants government to "help out" "qualified" homeowners with subprime mortages refinance. This will be too much for conservatives but not nearly enough for liberals. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
