Time to think about those Forever Stamps again, all you snail mail sufferers:
The post office will get an extra 2-cents worth when you mail a letter starting in May.
The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday that the price of a first-class stamp will rise to 44 cents on May 11.
Now that I've finally gone to online banking, including bill paying, I no longer pay attention to the Postal Service's trials and tribulations and the minor annoyance of periodic price increases. The agency said the 2-cent jump would cost "the average household" about $3 a year. I don't know who this average house is, but that's 150 pieces of mail, or 12 or 13 a month. That sounds about right, for people who still mail their bills. I think I've used two or three stamps in the last six months.
