I know I'm an old fart, but I still remember Christmas breaks, and I'm pretty sure vegging out was at the top of the list. As a matter of fact it was the list:
MUNCIE -- School might be out for a spell, but that doesn't mean children should spend it vegging out in front of the TV, computer or video games. Those things are OK on a limited basis, but the next few weeks should be spent doing activities that are both physically and mentally stimulating.
Look, a week or two is a "limited basis," OK? Summer vacation, that was a different story. Even the most aggressive "resters" among us ended up going outside and actually doing something after, oh, about a month and a half.
