Headline on this story: "Michael Jackson's casket was the same used for James Brown." So what have they done with James Brown?

Oh, well, at least it's a durable casket, which is probably for the best, since Michael's body is going to be around until they can figure out where to plant him. The casket is described:

The Promethean, as it's known, is a casket featuring "a blue velvet interior and a hand-polished, mirror finish, made of solid bronze and plated with 14 carat gold."

Given the wretched excess attending the King of Pop's departure, I guess it's pointless to carp about the ostentatiousness of his coffin, and it is worth noting that the $25,000 to $35,000 spent was to an Indiana casket maker (which has also provided the caskets for various presidents and celebrities ranging from Bob Hope to Farrah Fawcett).

Still, how you go out says a lot about how you spent your time here. I wouldn't impose my standard -- that anything other than the cheapest pine box is just a waste of money -- on others, but I reserve the right to, um, look down on the ones who depart with showy foolishness,
