Having solved all other problems, the White House is now going help Americans reconnect to "the great outdoors," according to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and other administration officials:
"It's really about getting people to think about the great outdoors again, and recognize what a tremendous asset it is to our country," Vilsack said in an interview.
American children are spending half as much time outside as their parents did, according to the Interior Department . . .
I love the outdoors, but, come on, it has its limits. That's why we invented "indoors." Outdoors has bugs and heat and cold and wind and puddles and snarling dogs and sunburn and dust storms and lightning and traffic jams and people you don't even know much less care to enteract with. Indoors has heat and air conditioning at our command, TV, computers, carpet, bathrooms, soft lighting, beds and nobody we didn't invite in.
