The contest may come down to whether the Democratic Party's traditional allies can overcome what appears to be a surge of local enthusiasm for the Republican candidate.
Now, follow me closely on this, because you can amaze your friends by using this analytical technique in all other elections: The party that gets out the most voters wins! Let me repeat that just in case you're still a little unclear: When the election is over, the vote is counted, and the candidate with the most votes beats the candidates with the least votes.
