A lot of business owners are squeamish about guns, witness the flap from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce about the recently passed state law allowing people to keep their guns in their locked cars in the company parking lot. And so it is in Texas, too -- yes, even in Texas. My brother reports that there seem to have been a rash of businesses lately posting that they DO NOT want Texas CHL (concealed carry license) holders on their premises. But occasionally there is a sign from the other side. The one pictured is in the window of the bank of Chappell Hill, a small town between Houston and Brenham on Highway 90.
Because we don't have a "gun culture" in Indiana (that is, we don't talk about them all the time), many people aren't even aware that Indiana also has concealed carry; and our law is even looser than the one in Texas, where permit seekers actually have to take classes and demonstrate the ability to use guns. Certainly business owners don't think enough about it to post signs about it. Do think that makes it more likely or less likely that the person standing next to you is packing heat? Just wondered.
