Be warned, watchers

Are there really as many dumb Hoosiers as this letter-to-the-editor writer seems to think?

With tornado season on us, it's time to look a the terminology of our warning system. The terms "tornado warning" and "tornado watch" are confusing.

[. . .]

When sirens go off and folks are seeking shelter is no time to ponder these confusing terms.

Good lord. "Tornado warning" means one of the things has actually been spotted. The less urgent "tornado watch" means conditions are right for one. What in the world is so difficult to understand about that, especially when the weather dudes and gals explain it over and over and over every time there's a cloud in the sky and a little wind?

Now, if you want to talk confusing, let's define the difference between "partly sunny" and "partly cloudy."
