Guess we know now what the Indianapolis Star does on a slow news day:
Country music star Vince Gill, who wrapped up a two-night stand at the Palladium on Wednesday, didn't make good on his plan to tackle the full-pound "Big Ugly" hamburger at Carmel's Bub's Burgers & Ice Cream.
But Gill did take on the "Not So Ugly" half-pounder with pepper jack cheese and bacon Wednesday before his second performance here.
"The tour bus dropped him off on Main Street," said Matt Frey, who co-owns Bub's with his wife, Rachel. "He is a real nice guy -- casual and laid-back. He signed a few autographs for people who were anxious to see him."
Gollleee, Gomer! A big ol' star like that, and he sits down and eats him a burger just like a normal person would. Right here in our place! And nice! He's just as regular a feller as you'll ever meet. This town won't never be the same, and that's for shore.
