Moving day

We're changing platforms here -- again! -- so if all goes well, this blog will have a new address tomorrow. You can click on the link at www.news-sentinel.com and bookmark the site. I'm off this week, but I hope to get a few posts done, just to make sure the site is working.

In the meantime, here's an interesting article ( www.nytimes.com/2015/08/23/magazine/the-creative-apocalypse-that-wasn't.html/ )on "The creative apocalypse that wasn't."

Sweet sounds

Sometimes, it takes an outsider to remind us of what a big deal something here is. Ed Driscoll does us that favor with his podcast interview of Mitch Gallagher, Editorial Director of Internet Music Giant Sweetwater.com

12 for a penny

Ah, memories:

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Millions of baby boomers’ music memories connect to Terre Haute.

Will you. please. turn. that. thing! off?

So this woman in South Carolina stabbed her roommate (and former boyfriend) multiple times because he would not stop playing an album by The Eagles over and over again, and it contains my favorite paragraph of the year so far in a news story:

Smart diplomacy

I did not think it was possible for John Kerry to do anything cheesier than throwing up that hand salute and shouting, "John Kerry reporting for duty" at the Democratic Convention. But, by heavens, I think he's done it:

Under fire for being a no-show at the Paris March Against Terrorism, the Obama administration sent Secretary of State John Kerry to Paris today to give a “big hug” to the French.

Really Kinky

Oh, for God's sake, lighten up. It was a freakin' joke:

We're sorry. What the hell were we thinking?

Hee-Haw Hillary

OK, we've done awesome. Now let's do truly awful. You'll have to look hard to find anything as entertaning (in a watching-a-train-wreck kind of way) as this cheesy, cringe-inducing country song  about the virtues of Hillary Clinton. Yessiribob, that's gonna make me run right out and sign up for her campaign. Because, you know . . .

Happy Veterans Day, suckers

Age-appropriate

I never cared much for John Mellencamp's music, so I was prepared to get all snarky about the revelation that he "channels" people like Tennessee Williams and Pete Seeger. But then I read the story and it sounds more like he's just saying they speak to him, i.e. inspire him. Then there is this, which makes me like him a lot more
