Hope springs a leak

The Indianapolis Colts are giving us a false sense of hope by taking Peyton Manning off hte "physically unable to play" list:

Manning himself puts little importance on his current consecutive played games streak. He wants to play, and play at a high level.

It is clear that he is nowhere near that level less than two weeks before the start of the season. What has me worried is the secrecy, and mysterious manner surrounding the Colts.

Head coach Jim Caldwell stated, ""He's been throwing. It's going to be a bigger amount, and I don't think it needs a whole lot of explanation. The statement speaks for itself."

Basically, be happy he is throwing, and don't expect too much from him for the time being.

Rats. False hope, as you well know, is an important coping mechanism that helps get us through the down  times. Sometimes, when dreading the worst has us so drained we can't even fight off our lowered expectations, a little false hope can give us just the respite we need to bounce back and start accepting the inevitable. We each have only a certain amount of false hope in our reservoirs, and as much as I enjoy the Colts, I hate to waste any of it on anything as trivial as a spectator sport.
