It only knows

The best evidence yet that public opinion polling has been taken to ridiculous extremes:

Most Americans say they are pleased with the job God is doing these days.

The Democratic polling outfit Public Policy Polling released the results of a poll Tuesday asking such questions as “If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of its performance?” and “If God exists, do you approve or disapprove of its handling of natural disasters?”

For the record, 52 percent of Americans approve of God's performance, while 9 percent disapprove. Forty percent aren't sure.

I mean, what if you do not approve of God's performance in office, exactly what are you going to do about it? Initiate a recall voter?

To be fair, the pollster identifies this as one of the "silly questions" often included in the polls "just for fun."

On the other hand, this knocked the sense of fairness right out of me:

The poll was careful not to use language describing God as a male.
