Back-up plan for Schaus

Currently, the Komets don't know if defenseman Nick Schaus will be back in time from Norfolk for this weekend's games. They expect to hear for sure by tomorrow.

If Schaus is staying in Norfolk, they will likely call up a player from Dayton. Whether it's a forward or a defenseman could depend on the recommendation from Dayton's coach Mark LeFebvre, with the thinking that Colten Hayes or Scott Kishel could play forward if necessary.

Schaus recalled.

The Norfolk Admirals have recalled defenseman Nick Schaus from the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets, Admirals Assistant General Manager Bob Ferguson announced today.

Ks don't have it tonight

They are down 5-2 and at least four of the Kalamazoo goals deserve Fort Wayne assists on them. Chaulk even put one in his own net -- top shelf, of all things. This is even worse than opening night. Charlie Effinger has given up five goals on 25 shots but has not been pulled yet. Nobody is playing well, though.

To go up 3-1 in the second period.

Nowit's 4-2 after Colin Chaulk puts one in his own net. Strange game.

Karlander's goal

After a Fort Wayne turnover deep in the Komets' zone, goaltender Charlie Effinger had no chance on Kory Karlander's 999th career point as the puck is already denting the top left corner of the net before he could react.

Thorne's goal to tie

Off an assist from Brandon Marino, of course.

First goal of the night

Darren Archibald's shot trickled through Charlie Effinger's 5-hole. It's 1-0 with 7:23 left in the first. Komets have to stay out of the penalty box.

Couple of notes

Former Komets defenseman David Starenky has been released by Toledo. He'll catch on somewhere.

Komets defenseman/forward Colten Hayes has been fined an undisclosed amount by the league for his spearing major last night.

Couple of pieces of audio history

As always, best listened to in Mozille Firefox. I'm very sorry, but I will not be responding to requests for more or any possible copies of the game. I'm not tryng to be a jerk about it, but just know I'm trying to get the people who can and should to find a way to make it happen.
