More details

More details from the CBA. Sorry couldn't get this up sooner, but had to cover some football and volleyball.

Salary cap is $10,200 per week but teams may designate one exempt player whose salary only counts 50 percent to the cap.

The minimum a team must spend is $8,200 per week.

The limit/max teams can spend on housing is whatever level they are able but if the player opts to receive the money directly for a home they are buying or if they do not want to live in team provided housing than there are caps of $400/700 depending on if the player is single or has a family.

Here's some numbers

According to David Franke, the maximum salary cap is about $11,000 a week and the minimum is $8,000.

``It's about where we thought it was going to be all start of the summer,'' he said. ``Even if the IHL had remained, we were still going to drop the salary cap, so we're fine and don't have to make and adjustments. We're fine with everything. We're fine with our mix of younger players.''

Komets are not expecting to sign any more veterans because this is what they planned, plus they want some flexibility during the season in case of major injury.

Doc Emrick to speak at Manchester

A heads-up that Mike “Doc” Emrick, who does the play-by-play for Olympic and NHL hockey, will be on the Manchester College (his alma mater) campus this Tuesday, Sept. 7. He's presenting a convocation at 3:30 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium. We can work interviews into his day, if you would like to meet with him and you're invited to his presentation.
