Got a note from Mitch that says, ``But yeah no plans of playing any hockey next year other than my rec team here.'' If that's the end of his career, he did pretty well for himself and the Komets with two rings. I also think he added something that was desperately missing in the locker room when he came back last season. He added some fun. Suddenly a lot of guys who were moping around at that time cracked some smiles fro
``I chose Fort Wayne for two reasons, the winning tradition and the exposure. Playing in my hometown factored in, but just being selfish for myself you want to win and you want to move up so I had to leave that out. The Komets are going to help me get into an AHL camp, and then it's up to me. Sometimes when you are not affiliated with anyone you also aren't buried under anyone, and if I went to the ECHL I might be buried under guys with two-way contracts.
According to David Franke, the team is continuing to negotiate with defensemen Guy Dupuis, Brandon Warner and Frankie DeAngelis. They expect to be able to sign Dupuis and Warner, and they hope to know one way the other on DeAngelis by next week. (He's currently on vacation).
Looking for two more goaltenders to bring into camp, but are uncertain if Tim Haun will be back.
Looking for some more toughness, maybe at a forward position. Brad MacMillan is a free agent, as is Mitch Woods, and the Komets are not planning on bringing either back.
"I always wanted to come back to Fort Wayne. This opportunity will be a great moment for me. I love Fort Wayne, the city and playing in front of that many fans, and you know the Frankes are always going to work hard to make sure we have a winner.''
The Komets announced Thursday that Mathieu Curadeau and Kaleigh Schrock have agreed to terms and have been added to the Fort Wayne roster for 2010-11.
Curadeau, 25, will be joining the Komets for a third season as a pro. The center scored league titles in his two previous seasons in Fort Wayne skating to Turner Cup championships in 2008 and 2009. Curadeau was named to the IHL All-Rookie team for 2007-08.
There will be an announcement tomorrow.
He's been working all night teaching and playing at The Plex and has a huge smile on his face.
