Les Reaney has been suspended for tonight's game for this third-period on Jamie Milam in Game 5. He hit him with an elbow and shoulder to the head away from the puck behind the Komets' net.
The CHL is reviewing requests from both teams for supplementary discipline from incidents in Game 5.
Total guesses here, but maybe they are looking at Mike Vaskivuo for another high sticking non-call, this time against Collin Circelli, and at Les Reaney for his hit from behind with no call against Leo Thomas. There might be others, or those could be way off.
I'll let you know when I know.
Brett Smith did not make the trip to South Dakota. I was told if there is a Game 7 he will try to play.
That's another reason why the Komets kept Leo Thomas in the lineup on Sunday, because they needed another center in case Brett had to come out.
TinCaps president Mike Nutter is going to be the guest speaker tonight at the Bethlehem Men's Group meeting, 3705 S. Anthony Blvd. We start at 7 p.m.
I'm not able to make the trip to Rapid City for Game 6 (my boss is going in my place), so we'll have a live blog here during the game. The game starts at 8:30 p.m. Fort Wayne time.
After Rapid City's Jake Morrissette missed high on a wide-open net and Mike Vaskivuo scored five-hole. Vaskivuo probably should have been out of the game for another high-sticking major that didn't get called. Kaleigh Schrock just pounded Scott Wray in a fight.
With Brent Henley being suspended, the Komets have had to alter a few things. Rookie Daniel Maggio is pairing with Bryant Molle on the blueline, and David Starenky is back in the lineup with Frankie DeAngelis. Tom Mele is a healthy scratch so the Komets can play with six defensemen and nine forwards.
He'll miss Sunday's game for a kneeing hit on Rapid City's Collin Circelli during Game 4 on Thursday. The hit came at center ice at 8:37 of the second period. There is no suspension for a non-high sticking call on the Komets' Mike Vaskivuo against Rapid City's Riley Weselowski.
