Suspension system is flawed, Boucher gets some rest, Henley is a beast and other notes.
Thanks to Dave Longsworth, this is Bob Chase getting surprised by Kaleigh Schrock's overtime game-winner Tuesday night in Tulsa.
He's still having concussion problems. Brett Smith did not skate this morning, but he's hoping to play. He's going to the doctor first thing Friday morning and needs to get cleared before he can play. Bennefield will be activated.
Brett Smith is questionable for Friday with a shoulder problem, and Colin Chaulk is having some more concussion problems and may need to go on IR. Bryant Molle has been activated from suspension, and it's likely Jesse Bennefield will be activated for Friday's game. Chaulk can go on the IR retro-active to Feb. 14 when he was injured.
You can read Wednesday's story here, including something you didn't know about goaltender Gerry Festa.
Kaleigh Schrock picked up a Brent Henley rebound at the side of the net and scored 2:55 into the overtime as the Komets beat Tulsa 2-1. Gerry Festa made 27 saves as the Komets out-shot the Oilers 44-28. Chris Auger scored Fort Wayne's first goal off a Bobby Chaumont rebound in the first period.
Komets are now one point behind Evansville for first place in the Turner Conference.
here's a preview of tomorrow's story about Artem Podshendyalov.
Trust me it's worth it to see the video because it's funny.
Pretty remarkable week considering everything that happened. Komets won five of a possible eight points. Evansville and Missouri are also both winning today so the Ks can't do anything in the standings.
Great production from the forwards as everyone got at least one point but Chris Auger, which is ironic because he's been the most consistent scorer up front of late. Tom Mele, J.M. Rizk, Artem Podshendyalov, Kaleigh Schrock and Brett Smith scored for the Komets. David Starenky and Schrock were plus-3. Gerry Festa made 35 saves.
