Dupuis on Puska on Pucks

Game 7 notes

From the league

Series Note: Game 7 will be televised on Altitude Sports & Entertainment and can be seen online on CHL-TV with certain territorial restrictions in affect due to televised broadcast.

One-Timers:

-The Eagles 8-1 win marks the largest margin of victory in any playoff win for the franchise and the eight goals are the most scored in any playoff game in their eight-year history.

Guy Dupuis retires

The Komets announced Tuesday that veteran defenseman Guy Dupuis is retiring from professional hockey after a career spanning 21 years.

Dupuis, 41, began his career in 1990 appearing in two seasons with Adirondack of the AHL after being selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft.  Dupuis made his Fort Wayne debut during the 1991-92 season skating 10 games with the Komets.  Dupuis also appeared that season with Adirondack participating in 49 AHL games and three playoff games.

Some notes

Talked with David Franke today on his way to Kalamazoo to watch the ECHL Riley Cup Finals.

* The Komets are not talking with the Red Wings about an affiliation or anything else.

* They will be talking to Columbus again in the next few weeks.

* The Komets are using a scouting service to help them look at upcoming rookies.

* They have not talked to Todd Robinson, but expect to in the future. He expects Robinson to wait awhile before si

CHL Finals notes

-The Mudbugs head home on a five-game home winning streak with the last time they played at the CenturyTel Center being Game 5 of the conference finals in which they defeated the Allen Americans advancing to the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Finals.
-The two teams have combined to go 1 for 20 with the man advantage with Bossier-Shreveport going 1 for 12 and Colorado going 0 for 8.

Serious question

Anybody got any ideas why fans are not going to the games in Kalamazoo? They are averaging 2,066 for the playoffs after averaging 3,275 in the regular season. There were 1,696 fans on a night when they clinched to go to the finals. Obviously a weeknight and a school night, but are there any other reaons

Colorado wins

The Colorado Eagles have won the Turner Trophy as the Central Hockey League's Turner Conference champions for 2010-11, claiming the title with a thrilling 1-0 victory over the 2010 CHL Champion Rapid City Rush in Game 7 of their best-of-7 series at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena on Wedmesday night.

You guys wanted some numbers last week on potential players to have their numbers retired. These seemed like the best candidates to me and are in alphabetical order.

* Dale Baldwin, played seven years and ranks 8th on the all-time games played list with 589, 17th with 150 goals, 10th in assists with 302, 15th in career points with 452, 2nd with 1,589 penalty minutes.

CHL notes on conference finals

Turner Conference

Series Notes:
-The Rapid City Rush are hoping to become the first team since the 2006 CHL Finals to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a series.  The Laredo Bucks fell behind Bossier-Shreveport 3-1 before rallying to win three straight games and the Presidents' Cup.
-Colorado is looking to make their fifth trip to the CHL Finals in their eighth season as a franchise.  The Eagles won the title in 2005 and 2007 and then fell to Arizona in 2008 and Texas in 2009.
-Rookie Adam Chorneyko leads the Eagles in scoring during the post-season with 15 points (4-11=15).
