Ks win again, and some notes

* After scoring 16 goals in their first 11 games, the Komets have nine in their last two. Frankie DeAngelis has six points in the first two games so far this week, and Kevin Reiter made 37 saves in a 4-2 win over Evansville on Friday night.

``Everybody is having fun now where everybody was miserable before,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We know how much fun winning can be, and the guys want to keep it going.''

Shaf rejoining Komets -- sort of

Though they finally scored five goals for the first time this season Thursday night, the Komets are going to try something else to boost their offense. Starting Monday morning, retired forward Konstantin Shafranov will start working with the forwards.

Observations

* Biggest difference tonight was the change in systems to allow them to forecheck instead of trap all the time. Suddenly, they didn't look as slow as they did the rest of the season. They were aggressive all night.

* The defensemen did a great job of pushing Quad City's forwards out wide and letting them shoot from there where Nick Boucher could see everything. I would not have guessed that putting Craig Cescon and Steve Delisle together would work, but it definitely did. Delisle looked much more comfortable tonight.

This story is not over yet

But it's still kind of fun to point out that there are still people out there who do nice things just because it's the right thing to do.

What are you thankful for?

And no, this doesn't necessarily have to do with hockey.

I'm thankful to have a job, a great family, a wonderful girlfriend and all of you bloggers/comedians. LOL. And I'm thankful to have a hockey game tomorrow night that I can take my family to.

WANE highlights from Saturday

Fifth loss in a row

I felt like the Komets out-worked the Gems for 55 minutes or so tonight, probably had the better scoring chances and played fairly smart as far as the penalties and defensively. They still lost 2-1, their fifth loss in a row and fourth in a row by one goal. 40 shots on net and only one went in.
