Tailing the Komets

Ks leaving early for QC

That sleeper bus they were supposed to be getting? It's not ready yet, and no one knows if the bus company has even started on the conversion. So the team is heading over early. You'd think they'll probably need it in two weeks when they play in Dayton, Evansville and Missouri on consecutive nights.

Practice report

Matheiu Curadeau missed skating today with a lower leg injury, but said he'll be fine to play on Friday... Komets trainer Shawn Dundon and equipment managers Mark Bradtmueller and Andy Desmond had to scramble all weekend to make their equipment make weight for the air travel. They spent a lot of time switching things around to even out bags, and such, but somehow made it all work... The last time the Komets flKomets GM David Franke said he's not sure when help is coming from Springfield... He's also not sure what roster moves the team will make this week.

Another treat from Dave

deja-vu-ii1 from Dave Longsworth, this time from the start of the 1992-93 season when the Komets started out 2-7, and Al Sims said at the time, ``By the time this season is over, no one will remember this start.'' He was right.

Bunch of scoring changes

The Central Hockey League has changed some things from Saturday's scoring. Derek Patrosso has the goal, Guy Dupuis and Brandon Naurato the assists in Fort Wayne's second goal.

This is interesting

Hey Blake

Hope things are going well.  Need a favor hoping you can help me.  A customer e-mailed me looking for a Reggie Primeau game-worn Komets jersey.  Wondering if you know anyone that might have one.  If not see if your bloggers might be able to help me?  If you get a bite on something replies can be sent to oldcards@aol.com

Thanks

This time Komets win 2-1

This time the Fort Wayne Komets stayed out of the penalty box and put themselves into the win column.

A night after giving up 12 power-play chances in a 2-1 overtime loss at Arizona, the Komets came back to allow only seven extra-man advantages and beat the Sundogs 2-1 on Saturday night.

Komets lose 2-1 in overtime

Again, no offense, and 16 minors. It might be easier to list the guys who didn't get any penalties: Matt Ward, Tyler Fletcher, Derek Patrosso, Leo Thomas and P.C. Drouin. Arizona had 12 power plays.

Here's what Al Sims had to say:

``We took too many penalties against. It just took away from us having a chance on offense in the thrid period. We were pretty gassed because we had taken so many penalties.

``Reiter played really well. A really strong performance. They were 2-for-12 on the power plays, and they had two 5-on-3s.

Chase eager to hit the road

Here's a video

It was sent to me anonymously. You can judge for yourself by watching it here.

My immediate thoughts: Mac obviously told Van Drunen he was coming so it should not have been a surprise. Seems to me he hit him straight on, but you could certainly debate that until the cows come home. I can understand why the league reacted the way it did. Still do not know if anything led up to this. Maybe nothing. I trust that the league did its best to find out.
