The Fort Wayne Komets missed a chance to increase their lead and then lost it Saturday night. The Muskegon Lumberjacks scored three goals during a six-minute span in the third period to beat the Komets 3-1 in the final exhibition game for both teams.
Thanks to Keith Rodger's first-period power-play goal off a Colin Chaulk assist, the Komets led 1-0 until there were about 10 minutes left in the third period.
Besides getting into a fight, Colin Chaulk had a rare hat trick for him on Friday night, earning three minor penalties in the second period. Coach Al Sims had a humorous take on that in the post-game interview.

The Komets trimmed seven players from the preseason roster Thursday. Players released include forwards Mike Uvodich, Ryan Potts, Shawn Legris, Greg Leffler, defensemen Kelly Reynolds and Tim Recio and goaltender Matt Wagner.
