Tailing the Komets

Still further proof...

... that I've got a face made for radio and a voice made for newspapers. I sat down today with Glenn Marini from WANE, Ch. 15. You can watch it here. Thank goodness they used lots of video to cover me up. LOL. Think you can guess which one of us has the pancake makeup on and which one really, really needs some?

Hey, Glenn, knows his hockey. He's a Miami of Ohio grad who had his heart broken Saturday night.

He has a fracture, but the Komets believe he's still going to be able to play in the playoffs.

Mac is back

Brad MacMillan is working on his sticks and says he's going to play tonight. His hand doesn't look that bad, either. No further update on P.C. yet.

IHL President Paul Pickard is in the house to present the awards.

Update

Drove like Tony Stewart to get back ASAP to the coliseum. The Bloomington game didn't end until after the Komets had already left Kalamazoo.

They were pleased to win the Huber Trophy, but still a little subdued. This isn't the trophy they want, but it's a step along the way.

"It feels good that we accomplished something," Guy Dupis said. "We're still not happy we lost the game, but we're happy with first place."

Wild night in Kalamazoo

The Komets lost 4-3, but they are waiting now to see what happens in Bloomington where Port Huron and the PrairieThunder are in overtime.

Besides the game and their winning streak, the Komets also lost left wing and leading scorer P.C. Drouin when he was hit on the right arm by a Kevin Bertram slap shot late in the second period. Drouin returned for one shift, but was not on the bench during the third period. He still needs two points to become the first Komet since Colin Chin in 1993-94 to score 100 points in a season.

This hit the crossbar.

Ks look very flat so far

And they've lost their cool, too. Leo Thomas responded to an uncalled cross check by Kalamazoo's Lucas Drake with an obvious spearing major in front of referee Scott Hobert. Colin Chaulk also got into a cross checking match with the Wings' Rick Cleaver a few seconds before that.
