Fojtik suspended one game

For his checking from behind major on Komets defenseman Brian Boulay. He'll miss tomorrow's game against Port Huron.

Think that's enough?

The O-Line story -- updated

Can be read here.

I just found out they changed the mapping on me after I posted this. Sorry about that. You ought to be able to find it now with no problem.

So who impressed you?

So I want to know who jumped up and surprised you last night for the Komets? I really thought Brian Boulay looked good before he got conked, and I was impressed with Jay Holladay, too. Varone is scary quick and Mironovic was laying the lumber a few times.

I really thought the coliseum made a number of nice changes to the scoreboard so the ads weren't so overwhelming, and shutting the ads off during the pre-game ceremonies was a total class act. It was much more enjoyable to see than during the exhibition games.

A couple thoughts

Are the Komets that good, or are the Generals just that bad. The Generals were down to one goaltender tonight because Jason Spezza got hurt last night. Unfortunately for goaltender Jordan Alford, they are also down to no defensemen. What a joke. Jared Dumba is probably their best defenseman and he's a converted forward. It wouldn't have mattered if Patrick Roy was in net tonight because the Generals were over-matched and under-represented.

Opening ceremonies

Wow, were those something. The Komets did a great job with the introduction of the team, the moment of silence for Rob Guinn and Hartley MacLeod, the presentation of the championship rings and the raising of the banner.

I especially liked the way the Memorial Coliseum shut down the scoreboard advertising during the ceremonies. That was a classy touch. I also liked how they stopped using the middle running script under the video and above the statistics. That was a very nice improvement.

The replays seemed to be working much better tonight than the did during the exhibition season as well.
