Komets General Manager David Franke just said defenseman Mikael Tam is out until spring and will need shoulder surgery sometime in the next two weeks. He suffered the injury on opening night on the first shift against Indy and then played the rest of the game and then the next night.

Bob Chase has a really bad cold and may miss the weekend, so Shane Albahrani will be filling in at least tonight and tomorrow.
TRANSACTIONS: Francois Tremblay, Reid Petryk loaned to @FWKomets (ECHL).
Reid Petryk is a 6-2, 210-pound center. This means the Komets will have to make two roster moves as well to get under the salary cap.
Komets released goaltender Joe Howe and put forward C.J. Severyn on reserve. The ECHL says they have also put forward Marcus Power on reserve, which is interesting since no one has ever said he's been assigned here or signed.
