Tailing the Komets

Komets trim active roster by five

Komets announced Wednesday that they have trimmed the preseason roster by three players.  Placed on waivers were forwards Alex Hudson and Brett Beebe and defenseman Mathew Maione.

Defenseman Matt Krug and forward Christian Ouellet have been placed on 21-day injured reserve.

No roster moves today

The Komets are not making any announcements on players today.

Weak performance ends training camp

Well, this is awful

Doesn't look like anyone is competing for a job tonight as Kalamazoo leads 5-2 after two periods. Pat Nagle and his defense gave up five goals on 19 shots through 30 minutes. No intensity, no skating, everything is in slow motion. Francois Tremblay looks OK so far.

Anybody you thought looked good tonight?

ECHL schedule changes

The ECHL just announced its revised schedule to include the former CHL teams. How this affects the Komets?

They'll play Missouri on Oct. 25, Quad City instead of Toledo on Dec. 29 and Missouri on March 21 and 22 instead of Reading. (It would be a lot more fun with Charlie Effinger in goal, though.)

All those games are at home.

Ks release three

Paul Arnott, Eric Levine and Max Tardy have been sent home. That leaves 24 players, 13 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders contending for 20 active spots and a possible three reserve spots.

Big hit!

What did you think?

After a very sluggish start, the Komets sure settled down to beat the IceMen 7-3. The line of Angelo Esposito, Christian Ouellet and Eric Faille dominated with five goals. I thought it was interesting they scored in a bunch of different ways and not just because they were doing the same tactic every time.

So many different story lines running through my head right now.

Ks' first goal

Christian Ouellet snaps a wrist shot.
