So there's talk...

...online about a potential ECHL-CHL merger being announced Wednesday. There's a report that team owners from both leagues were meeting in St. Louis. Some reports say it's going to happen, and others say talks are dead.

I think it could happen for several reasons:

1. It's been way too quiet among all the owners. If this wasn't serious, someone would have denied it by now. No one has. It's also interesting that several people in both leagues who almost always call back did not on Tuesday. Guess they would prefer not to lie or even get asked the question.

The Komets announced Tuesday that three players have been added to the preseason roster after signing tryout agreements.  Defenseman Paul Arnott, forward Nicola Levesque, and goaltender Eric Levine.

What do you think of the roster so far? Keep in mind they are going to get a minimum of four players from Lake Erie. That will be a goaltender and at least two forwards, possibly three. Could be a defenseman and two forwards, too. And the Komets have said at least two of those will be on two-way contracts, meaning they are under AHL and ECHL contracts and they are going to be very good players.

Komets sent Wolfe "North to Alaska"

The Komets completed a deal late Wednesday, sending rookie forward Greg Wolfe to the Alaska Aces. This finishes a deal for future considerations between the teams as the Komets acquired the rights to forward C.J. Severyn from Alaska on Aug. 26.

"We weren't nuts about losing him, but Severyn is a proven player in this league," Komets General Manager David Franke said. "I think Greg Wolfe can go out to Alaska and do well to start his pro career."

A Michigan State product, Wolfe played seven games in the playoffs with Reading, against the Komets, scoring three goals.
