He said the Komets may announce some player signings this afternoon or tomorrow, depending on when the paperwork gets in. He also said they are getting closer to announcing something on an affiliation.

As expected, Aaron Clarke is retiring, though the Komets made him a strong offer. Joe Hartman is going to either retire or maybe play in Colorado where his wife got a job.

Konstantin Shafranov is in Russia visiting family and will sit down to talk with the Komets when he returns. They definitely want him back as an assistant coach.

Komets sign three more

The Komets announced Tuesday that three defensemen have been added to the roster for 2014-15.  William Lacasse and Matthew Maione have each re-signed for a second season with Fort Wayne while Drew Daniels has agreed to terms and will join the Fort Wayne lineup, completing a trade for future considerations made last season with Utah.

Komets make qualifying offers

To Ben Meisner, Scott Fleming, Brandon Marino, Aaron Clarke, Christian Ouellet and Dean Ouellet 


Players who had already signed a contract by June 30 did not need to receive a qualifying offer.

Free fireworks with canned goods

As many of you know, Komets coach Gary Graham is also owner of Pyromaniacs Firewooks in Time Corners. Pryomaniacs is running a promotion through July 6 where anyone who brings in canned food items for a donation to Community Harvest Food Bank will receive free samples of fireworks as part of  ``Cans for Grams.''  (I guess fireworks are measued in grams.) They'll be giving away things like Pyro Viagara, Crackling crawfish and Counter strike boomers. The store is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and until at least midnight on Friday.

Komets re-sign Schrock, Embach

The Komets announced Monday that forwards Kaleigh Schrock and Mike Embach have agreed to terms and will be returning to Fort Wayne for the 2014-15 campaign. Schrock and Embach become the first two players to be named to the roster.

Siebenaler gets drafted

Third round, 77th pick overall by Columbus Blue Jackets.
