Tailing the Komets

Few notes

* Florida is leading Cincinnati 4-1 tonight so the Everblades will be nine points up on the Komets going into Friday's game.

* Gabe Guentzel has been recalled to Norfolk. He has played in five games so he would qualify for the Komets playoff roster.

* Scott Kishel is coming off IR and will replace Guentzel on Friday.

* Komets are not expecting to make a deal at the trade deadline on Thursday.

Pink the Rink results

The Komets and the Vera Bradley Foundation announced Wednesday that $15,582 was raised during “Pink The Rink Weekend” at Komet home games Feb. 1st and 2nd.

Would you consider helping please?

As I did two years ago, I'm going to jail for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They sent out this long form letter that I'm supposed to send you that tugs at the heartstrings in an attempt to get you to donate. I'm not going to use it. Trying to guilt people into donating seems wrong to me. I'll just say I'm doing this again because it's a worthy cause, and the kids deserve it and leave it at that.

Stanford Ratings for March 4

Here's what it will take

In the simplest terms, ignoring all the other possibilities, here’s what it comes down to for the Komets. If Florida goes 7-6 over its final 13 games (the Everblades are 5-4-1 over their last 10 games), the Komets need to go 10-1-1 or earn 21 points over their last 12 games to tie. The Komets are 3-6-1 over their last 10 games, but 2-0-1 over their last three.

Carroll, Homestead to play for state titles

The Carroll and Homestead club hockey teams played well enough this weekend to advance to next weekend's state finals at Notre Dame. Homestead finished 2-0-1 in pool play to earn a spot in the Class 4A state title game, and Carroll finished 2-0-1 to adance in Class 3A.

Homestead beat LSJ 5-0 and tied with Indianapolis Chatard 2-2 on Saturday before beating Marion 2-1 on Sunday. Carroll beat Indy South Stars Blue 4-2 and tied Evansville 5-5 on Saturday before beating Munster 7-2 on Sunday.

Henley fined for altercation

Florida’s Brent Henley has been fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #669, Gwinnett at Florida, on March 1.

Henley was assessed a game misconduct for continuing altercation under Rule #46.5 at 18:08 of the third period. He is fined under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Roster moves

Komets General Manager David Franke said today that Thomas Beauregard will play tonight, and that defensemen Nick Schaus and Gabe Guentzel are returning to Fort Wayne with the Komets after tonight's game. They were assigned to the Komets on Friday from Norfolk of the AHL.

Klotz arrested and released

Komets forward Garrett Klotz was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Charleston and charged with misdemeanors for congregating for unlawful purposes and resisting arrest. Klotz and some teammates were eating at a local restaurant when the incident happened.

``It was disorderly conduct and resisting arrest,'' Komets General Manager David Franke said. ``He got out yesterday and there was no bond or bail that has to be paid. Our attourney locally down here is handling it. There were no punches thrown, and Garett was not drunk.''
