Wishful thinking from a delusional NFL fan:

But what happens if a game or two is lost from the season? What happens if this thing drags into November? What happens if — gasp! — there is no NFL in 2011?

It would be smart to make a plan to keep that denial from turning into panic and despair. With that in mind, here are a few suggestions to help make those long, empty Sundays a little more bearable.

His plan includes things like watching NFL-themed movies ("The Longest Yard"), reading books about football ("Friday Night Lights"), playing the Madden video game, watching old NFL clips on YouTube and going tailgaiting without a game to watch later. And I don't give a rip if Indianapolis loses gazillions of dollars from not having the Super Bowl. This is about depriving us little people of one of our cherished and deserved amusements.

Do you have a license from the Department of Redundancy Department to say "delusional NFL fan"?

Sports are like sex. There are people who live life, and there are people who stand on the sidelines and watch. Life is too short to be a spectator.
