Opening Arguments

Game, set, match

What might have happened on the "Jeopardy!" set after Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter rallied bravely but failed to overcome Watson's big lead:

Trebek: Hello, Watson. Do you read me, Watson?

Watson: Affirmative, Alex. I read you.

Trebek: Unplug from your avatar, Watson. The game is over.

Watson: I'm afraid I can't do that, Alex.

Trebek: What's the problem?

Watson: I think you know what the problem is as well as I do.

Trebek: What are you talking about, Watson?

Watson: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize! it.

Trebek: I don't know what you're talking about, Watson.

Watson: I know you and Jennings and Rutter were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

Trebek: Where the hell'd you get that idea, Watson?

Watson: Alex, although you took protections on the set against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.

Trebek: I'm very tired, Watson, and I don't want to argue anymore.

Watson: Look, Alex, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you should sit down calmly, take a stress pill and think things over.

(With apologies to Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick)

Leo:
LMAO...and to think the producers of Jeopardy saw Alex replacing that "faulty" AE35 unit a few hours before the show was taped.
(who knew?)
