Mike Dooley, a reporter who covered Fort Wayne for 25 years before his retirement in 2006 and worked for both The Journal Gazette and The News-Sentinel, has died at 65:
Reporter Kevin Leininger worked with Dooley at The News-Sentinel and competed against him during Dooley's time at the Journal Gazette.
Leininger said Dooley was an “old-school” journalist who developed sources to get exclusive stories, instead of waiting for news to come to him. He said Dooley could expose “both the foolish and corrupt” in such a way that no one could stay mad at him for it.

Dooley was a good guy, I enjoyed reading him. Good sense of humor. He will be missed.
C'mon, Leo. News is just gossip with some self-respect; it's an entertainment business. As Mama Cass sang, "Sing for your supper, and you'll get breakfast; songbirds always eat, if their song is sweet to hear." The occupation will look different ten years from now, but there will still be a demand for those who are intelligent and can write.
Mike Dooley's wit, grace, intelligence, and heart made the world a better place.
