Opening Arguments

What, me stupid?

Explains a lot:

A growing body of psychology research shows that incompetence deprives people of the ability to recognize their own incompetence. To put it bluntly, dumb people are too dumb to know it. Similarly, unfunny people don't have a good enough sense of humor to tell.

And we live in a Lake Wobegon of the mind, where "all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average."

That's an interesting read. I'd venture to say it's pretty much what we should expect when every public school for 30 years + has basically worried more about about making everyone a winner than providing an education and preparing kids for real life. If you tell kids from kindergarten through college their performance is just fine when it really isn't what do you expect?

" . . . dumb people are too dumb to know it. Similarly, unfunny people don't have a good enough sense of humor to tell."

Wow!  Dr. David Dunnings "decade worth of research" brings to mind the mock headline usually attributed to the New York Times: "World to End Tomorrow, Women and Minorities Hardest Hit."
