We're doomed! Again.

Malthusians just don't give up, do they?

Humans will need two Earths to support our lifestyles by 2030 because we are draining the world’s resources so quickly, a new report has warned.

Produced by the World Wildlife Fund, the Zoological Society of London, the Global Footprint Network and the European Space Agency, the 2012 Living Planet Report measures humans’ ecological footprint on the planet.

At the moment, the picture is bleak, according to Jim Leape, Director General of WWF International, with resources being drained 50 per cent faster than they can be replenished.

[. . .]

“The report tells us that we’re already using the earth’s resources 50 per cent faster than it can be replenished, and that, if we don’t change our ways, by 2030 we will need two planets to support us.”

Omigod, 2030, that's pretty darn near! All you cancers on the Earth, just go kill yourselves right now so we can save the poor planet.

These people are utterly shameless -- they make one dire prediction about overpopulation and resource depletion after another, they are spectacularly wrong every time, and just keep right on preaching doom and gloom. If we're really going to need two planets, let all the evirozealots go to the other one, and the rest of us can have a little peace and quiet on this one.

At least this screed is so over the top it's mildly amusing. People who get so deeply into something never see when they're drifting into self-pardoy, do they?

Don't worry about it.  According to Algore, global warming is due to wipe us out in a little more than 2 1/2 years.

My reading of Malthus leads me to believe that either global warming or resource depletion is a good thing that balances consumption/production just as war, famine and disease have done in the past.

While Mr. Morris pokes fun at Malthus, a part of me takes Malthus seriously.
