Tailing the Komets

Komets win 5-0

There are some games in a long season when a coach has to ask his goaltender to try to steal a win. Nick Boucher should be charged with grand larceny after Sunday.
Boucher made 44 saves as the Komets won 5-0 at Dayton to finish a four-game week with a 3-1 mark. Boucher improved to 11-4-0 on the road a night after the Komets lost a showdown with first-place Muskegon 4-3 at home.
“Bouch played a great game, probably the strongest game since he came back from the injury,” Komets coach Al Sims said.

Bouchard scores record goal

The International Hockey League is proud to announce that Muskegon Lumberjack right wing Robin Bouchard netted his 683rd career goal to become the all-time minor league goal scoring leader this evening. Bouchard passes former Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Don Parsons (682), who has not played since the 2008-09 season. The record-breaking goal was Bouchard's 56th of the 09-10 season.

Komets lose 4-3

And one person who did not think it was a very good game was Komets coach Al Sims.

``I didn't think it was great, not for us anyway. I thought we looked tired from Timmy Haun all the way out to everybody else. We didn't get the goaltending, and we didn't play good team defense. Our power play really let us down.

"Their big players came to play tonight, and they out-played our big players.

Komets books on sale for $15

For the rest of the season, Live From Radio Rinkside, Legends of the Komets and Tales of the Komets will be on sale for $15 at Komet Kuarters and at the games. Those will go until we run out. Fair warning, there are lot more of Legends of the Komets available than Bob's book or Tales of the Komets, and once they are gone, that's all we've got unless you want to pay the higher price online.

Great game so far

It's 3-3 after two.

Here's Robin Bouchard's record-tying goal.

And here's Syro's goal that pto tie it.

2-2 after one

Great game so far. Muskegon has shown 10 times as much fire as the Lumberjacks did last week. Robin Bouchard has two goals for the Lumberjacks and needs one more to tie Kevin Kerr's all-time minor league goal-scoring career record. Sean O'Connor and Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock have scored for the Komets.

First is Justin Chwedoruk. The puck is under the right armpit of Quad City goaltender Kyle Jones.

The second is Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock who can see from behind the net the puck is already through Jones' legs and over the line.

It's 2-1 Komets after one. Komets gave up a 2-on-1 for a goal in the first 30 seconds but have looked very good after that.

Can I admit something?

Maybe it's because I've had one day off since Feb. 20, I'm burned out and the weather is gorgeous, but I can think of quite a few things I'd rather do than go to tonight's game. Thank goodness it doesn't start until 8 p.m.

Good question from IntotheBlue

With the NCAA tournament coming soon to Fort Wayne, and with few if any comments put up on Blake's blog entries about high school hockey, I was curious, Do folks think Fort Wayne is a good hockey town, is it a good Komets town, or for that matter is it just a good Komets town when the Komets dominate?
