Idiot's delight

Sorry, Chris, but I don't accept you as my spokesman:

Chris Matthews spoke for “all white people” today, and apologized for unspecified transgressions committed by them.

“I’ll just tell you one thing,” the Hardball host told his two guests. “And I’m speaking now for all white people, but especially [the ones] who’ve tried to change the last 50 or 60 years. And a lot of them really tried to change, and I’m sorry for this stuff. That’s all I’m saying.”

He was addressing former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele and Val Nicholas, vice president and creative director at NBC News. The trio had been discussing racism, as well as conversations black parents would have with their children in the wake of the verdict in the Zimmerman trial.

Actually. I'm not even sure what the hell he's saying exactly. Is he apologizing for white people who have tried and failed to change themselves for 50 or 60 years? Or is he apologizing for white people who have tried to change the history of the last 50 years and undo all the progress that's been achieved? Oh, well, in any case, it's a wicked stupid thing to say, sort of the reverse of what these clowns usually do to black people or Hispanic people or anybody else -- rush out and grab a "spokesman" to stick on-camera who is supposed to  speak for the whole raceon this or that issue. It's bad enough to get into the "sins of the father" mindset where we're supposed to share the blame for what our ancestors did.

But if he really wants to assume the "white man's burden," I hope he gives me a call. I've got some bills he can pay.
