This is kind of a pointless exercise:
For Mitt Romney, the 2012 election was held about a year too early.
Romney would hold a slight lead on President Obama if the 2012 election were replayed today, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The poll of registered voters shows Romney at 49 percent and Obama at 45 percent in the rematch, a mirror image of Romney’s four-point (51-47) popular-vote loss in 2012.
Don't get me wrong; I have no great affection for the Obama adminsitration. But presidents almost always hit the low point of public approval in their second terms. If the same poll had been taken at the same poiint, in George W. Bush's presidency, the public would have been pining for President John Kerry. (Good Lord, I just had a dizzy spell). If they dwell on such nostalgic wishful thinking instead of planning for the next election, Republicans will be greeting President Hillary Clinton.
