Funny peculiar

Further evidence that Los Angeles is a strange place. The Daily News recently dropped 10 cartoons and is now bringing back a few of them based on reader outrage:

I'm sorry we messed up your comics but grateful so many of you have let us know about it and told us what you want.

We're going to fix it as well as we can as fast as we can. "For Better or For Worse," "Funky Winkerbean" and "Mallard Fillmore" were at the top of your list, and we're going to get those back in the daily LA.COM section within a matter of days.

"For Better or For Worse," "Funky Winkerbean" and "Mallard Fillmore" are the ones readers in L.A. can't live without? Among the others cut, but apparently not that missed, were "Garfield," "Beetle Bailey" and "Hagar the Horrible." They have funny taste out there, and I don't mean funny ha-ha.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I've become much less of a comics reader. I used to check out my favorites every day, but now I go weeks without even looking at them. I think its one of those changes -- like not having music on the in background 24 hours a day -- that sneak up on us as we get older.
