God only knows

Fort Wayne is often late in getting to the party when it comes to trends and movements, but this time we're in the vanguard as one of the few cities getting a heads-up about the return of Jesus. According to billboards being put up by the group We Can Know here and elsewhere, the savior will return on May 21 of next year. Considering all that must be done in preparation for the Second Coming, five months isn't really much notice, but I guess we're better off than the poor slobs in sideroad America who aren't even getting billboards. Can you imagine the shock? There they'll be, patiently waiting for the Mayan-predicted apocalypse in 2012, and Jesus shows up the year before and tells everybody to start packing.

We are not one of the cities getting the "Good Without God" signs being put on buses by a bunch of atheists, which is probably a good thing. With only five months to go, it wouldn't do to start getting all Humanist and thinking we can live decent lives without divine guidance. I think they did put some of the signs on buses in Bloomington, or at least tried to, which seems sort of pointless. Is there any place in Indiana less in need of ignoring God? I wonder what would happen if one of those buses passed by one of the billboards. A great rip in the fabric of the space-time continuum?

I suppose now, littlejohn will mock me for my theological ignorance, and Michael will call me out for engaging in shoddy metayphsical reporting just for a cheap laugh. That will annoy me, but they will no doubt be forgiven by someone above my pay grade.
