Did I fall asleep in the Twilight Zone and wake up in 1996? Bill Clinton is currently the most popular politician in America, and Kiss isn't being considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, again.
The nominations for the 2011 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced yesterday. 15 have entered, only five to seven will continue on into the Hall. Who's got the best odds?
To be eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an artist must have released their first record 25 years prior to the year of induction. These 15 nominees will be voted on by a selection of 500 rock experts. Here are this year's nominees, in order of their chances of being inducted into the Hall in March 2011.
Yeah, "500 rock experts" may do the voting, but only a handful pick the nominees, and I don't think any of them are musicians. That's why it sometimes seems life the H-of-F is scraping the bottom of the barrel when in fact they're just voting in a bunch of crappy bands and singers and ignoring some people who should be there. I have no thoughts on Kiss one way or the other, but they're finally getting around to some people who should have already been in, like Alice Cooper, the J Geils Band, Tom Waits and Bon Jovi (no, not Donavan, please, please, please!). But they're still inexcusably overlooking people like Stevie Ray Vaughn( come on, man!), the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush.
In the politicians poll, Clinton had the "best ratio" of all polticians, 58 percent positive and only 23 percent negative, and only President Obama and Mike Huckabee had the other net positive ratings, so I wonder who in the world pollsters talked to. My views about Clinton have softened a little since he left office, but I still wouldn't put him in the political hall of fame yet. The beat is nice to dance to, but the lyrics are a little stale
