OK, that's it. I've had enough of winter, so I hereby declare that spring begins tomorrow. I'm a blogger, after all. I can do anything.
Well, maybe I should call on Phil for an assist:
Word is out today that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow in the annual tradition in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Punxsutawney Phil is supposed to tell whether we're going to see six more weeks of winter or not. Apparently, we will not, which is good news for much of the Midwest today. With the weather we've had around the country during the past couple of winters, Phil is encouraging many people that springtime is near.
I'm blogging from home this morning, and I plan to go into the office later in the afternoon, weather permitting. I know several people are at work today despite the mayor's call for a Level I snow emergency -- only emergency vehicles and necessary travel permitted. When I first started in the business, getting the paper out despite challenging conditions was a point of pride, and we certainly would have called it worthy of necessary travel. Probably a little harder to make that case these days.
