Tailing the Komets

dsc_2065

This looks very similar to the game against Dayton where Bryan Hogan stole the show. Bloomington's Marco Emond has kept the Komets off the scoreboard so far even though the Komets out-shot the Blaze 24-13 in the first period and had a ton of good scoring chances.

No roster moves today

But at least one is coming, according to General Manager David Franke. Leo Thomas will be activated on Thursday, but another unnamed player is going on IR because of a sore groin. Brent Henley will not be activated, but could be if a defenseman gets hurt over the weekend.

As for Jesse Bennefield, his surgery to clean up his ankle was a success, and theK

Couple of notes

I'll bet you didn't know from the Komets' weekly press release...

The Komets' power play was 3/10 for the week improving to 12/45 and a CHL best 26.7% rating... Boucher improved to sixth overall in the CHL with a 2.56 goals-against average in 10 appearances... The Komets will host their 50th consecutive Thanksgiving game this Thursday night when Bloomington makes their second holiday visit.

Before the rumor gets started

The Komets have not released David Starenky. He's heading to Detroit today to do some extra training on his day off which is why he had his equipment bag and some sticks with him as he left tonight. He prefers to do the on-ice training in full gear. He'll be back in town by Sunday night and back at practice Monday morning.

Different game tonight

I don't think the Komets look half as good as they did last night, but they are winning 2-0. A very workmanlike effort. They so far haven't made the big defensive mistake, though Nick has gotten some help from a couple of goalposts. Strange weekend. Not a ton of energy in this game, which means it's

And he thinks the CHL is significantly better than last year. I'm not sure I agree, but I don't necessarily disagree. Haven't seen enough yet. What do you think?

Initial thoughts

I thought the Komets played pretty well, actually. I thought Bryan Hogan stole the game for the Gems. The Komets played 65 percent of the game in the Dayton zone, I thought they got guys to the front of the net, but he still made the saves, especially early. I didn't think Nick could have done anything on any of the goals. The two Dayton PP goals were off the same play where the guy sneaks around behind and he's wide open because the defenseman lost him. The 2 on 1 became a 2 on 1 when the defenseman dove to try to breka up the pass and missed.
